Inside the Jungle – Episode 162 – Winning Ugly

AWESOME! 1-0 to start the year after a tough, hard fought, injury riddled AFC North game in Baltimore. The Bengals should have wrapped this game up in the first half after scoring on 5 of their 6 offensive drives. Unfortunately those 5 scoring drives ended in Mike Nugent field goals. Should have been 35-0 at the half. Instead the Bengals offense let the Ravens stick around, and it nearly bit them in the end. The Ravens came back and took the lead in the 4th quarter. However, the Red Rifle and the Juggler connected on a 77-yard pass and the defense held on. Whew. Let’s hope they’re not all like this. I’ll take the win every day of the week, but not at the expense of my heart! Now, on to the show!

In this week’s show:

We start the show off by giving our Best and Worst from Sunday’s game. What was your best and worst?

The Bengals received some very positive press this week with Devon Still being put on the practice squad so that he can continue to have insurance and pay for his daughter’s cancer treatments. Then, he received some more news this week as he was signed to the 53-man active squad for Sunday’s home opener against Atlanta.

We look ahead to Sunday’s game at Paul Brown Stadium as the Bengals face the first of their NFC South opponents, the Battle of the past two Hard Knocks squads, the Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons are riding high after a rough 2013 campaign and now a season opening win at home against the Super Bowl favorite New Orleans Saints. Can the Bengals stop the Falcons offense? Can the Falcons defense stop the Bengals offense? It should be a fun one, now let’s just hope the game reaches “sell out” status so that you can see it!

We ran out of time this week (due to working 3rd shift) so there will be no After Party download. You can still help support the podcast though by going to spnt.tv/patreon. Your support and generosity is very much appreciated!

Inside the Jungle – Episode 161 – The Season is Finally Here!

We survived Bengals fans! The long national nightmare is finally over. Football is HERE! Tonight kicks off the 2014 NFL Regular Season and we couldn’t be more pumped here at Cincy Jungle! Sunday the Bengals will be kicking off their regular season with a thumping of the Ratbirds in Baltimore. It’s going to be a glorious day! What are you looking forward to the most this weekend though? Hue Jackson’s new offense? Andy Dalton? The dual threat running backs? The defense? What’s the biggest storyline heading into Sunday for you? Let us know what you think. Now, on to the show!

In this week’s show:

We start off the show by welcoming back Anthony to the show after a couple week hiatus. We also discussed the final 53 players and cut down day and any surprises from the weekend. Nothing really SHOCKED any of us but there were some names who didn’t make it.

We welcome in Mickey to the show and Scott joins us at the tail end of the discussion regarding the schedule. We go week by week and give our predictions for the season.

We then dig a little deeper and discuss our thoughts on the Ravens. We also gave our Bold Predictions for this week. If you have a Bold Prediction for Saturday send them to me on Twitter @nickseuberling. Or leave them in the comments below!

Due to my computer crashing and the show going longer than usual this week we unfortunately didn’t have an After Party download. You can still help support the podcast though by going to spnt.tv/patreon. Your support and generosity is very much appreciated!

Inside the Jungle – Episode 160 – Just Stay Healthy

This is it! Tonight is the Preseason Finale at Paul Brown Stadium as the Bengals host the Colts. I can’t stress these three words enough: JUST STAY HEALTHY! Seeing all of these significant injuries around the league scares the bejesus out of me. Andy Dalton, AJ Green, Giovani Bernard and Vontaze Burfict better not see the field tonight. There’s no need for them to be playing. With that said, there are still some potential roster bubbles that need settled tonight. We’ll see if some of these fringe guys can make their case tonight.

In this week’s show:

We start off by looking back at the Cardinals win. A solid performance by the “ones”. It was also nice to see our old pal Carson Palmer throwing to our defense for touchdowns. Ultimately, the difference in the outcome.

Larry Black, Quinn Sharp (my personal favorite), Matt Scott and everybody’s favorite Ryan Whalen were all cut this week by the Bengals. Were there any names cut this week that surprised you?

We take your calls, John from Kentucky, Greg from Cincinnati, Richard from D.C. and Fatal Content in South Beach ringed in with his Question of the Night. Where will the Bengals offense rank by the end of the season? The three of us offer up our predictions.

Inside the Jungle – Episode 159 – Cheese with That Whine

Halfway there. We’re ALMOST to real football. “But Nick, they are playing real football right now. They’re tackling another opponent.” Yeah, ok. The preseason, to be fair, is quite boring. Especially with this Bengals team when you consider that you can pretty much name the 53-man roster right now. After two games, are there any players that weren’t on the 53 a year ago making this team? At this point I find myself watching these games just praying that no one gets hurt. By the way, if you polled most fans of other teams, they’d agree with this statement. Hey, NFL, shorten the preseason please! Thanks. Now on to the show!

In this week’s show:

Mickey, Scott and I spent the first segment giving our thoughts on Vontaze Burfict’s new contract extension. @King55Tez just got paid! 4 years $20 million. Some solid spending money right there.

We discuss the loss to the Jets but more importantly the whining that was done by Bengals offensive line coach Paul Alexander. Needless to say, we differ in our opinions.

We look ahead to this week’s primetime matchup with the Arizona Cardinals and give our score and bold predictions.

This week’s Fatal Content Question of the Week? “Who is our biggest competition in the AFC North?” Your thoughts?

We also gave our shoutouts for this week. For me I had a special shoutout regarding the #ALSicebucketchallenge. I have challenged my co-hosts Mickey, Scott and Anthony. Here’s the video of myself freezing. To donate, log on to ALSA.org.

The Infinite Frontier Podcast – Episode 10 – Box Office Smashers

On this week’s show, Woody and Bull breakdown the process of one of the easiest ways to kill time on a long bus trip, movies! Woody and Bull talk to both of their resident movie men who are in charge of picking out movies, Toddy Kibby for the Lake Erie Crushers, as well as Tony Delmonico and Tony Smith for the Schaumburg Boomers.

We’ll also hear from the newly appointed manager of the Washington Wild Things, Bob Bozzuto.

Players of the week from the last couple of weeks will be heard from as well, and they include Washington’s Troy Marks, and a pair of Evansville Otters, Nik Balog and Trevor Walch.

Inside the Jungle – Episode 158 – Good Thing It Didn’t Count

That sure was a lot of points for a preseason opener. I mistakenly guessed on last week’s episode that it would be a low scoring affair. Oops. 21 points given up on Offense and Special Teams will do you in every time. Despite spotting KC 3 scores, the Bengals still managed to only lose by 2. Though it was just a preseason game, it was good to see the orange and black out on the field! Which player surprised you the most? Who disappointed you last week? What are you looking forward to this week against the Jets? Get your thoughts in to the show!

In this week’s show:

Anthony, Scott and I spent the first segment giving our thoughts on what transpired in Kansas City.

Wouldn’t it be nice if the Bengals, for once, had an X-factor in the return game?

More injuries this week as Marvin Jones went under the knife. We discussed the impact of losing him for 6 weeks.

What’s up with the Center position? Apparently shotgun snaps continue to be an issue.

This week’s Fatal Content Question of the Week? “What would it have to take for Andy Dalton to be in the MVP discussion at the end of the season?” Your thoughts?

We also gave our bold predictions and score predictions for this week’s game against the New York Jets. What is your bold prediction for tonight? Leave them in the comments below!

Inside the Jungle – Episode 157 – Dalton Deal Done

Congratulations Bengals fans! You have survived the offseason. And now tonight, that patience pays off as you get to see the orange and black finally play a game of football. What do you want to see tonight out of the Bengals? We know we won’t see much of the starters. But is there a specific player you’re excited to see tonight? A fringe player on the roster that may be battling for that final spot? Or are you like me and just hope and pray NO ONE gets hurt? That sound you hear is me knocking on wood.

In this week’s show:

Since there wasn’t much news surrounding the Bengals this week, and since we made no mentions of his name in episode 156, we decided it was ok to talk about Andy Dalton again. Oh yeah, he signed a new deal this week. Based on the conversation I saw in Wednesday night’s chat room during our live show, I’d say 98% of the folks tuned in were sold on the deal. It’s a contract friendly to the Bengals, and it’s also going to get Andy Dalton paid if he does what we want him to do, win games in the postseason.

We look ahead to this week’s preseason opponent, the Kansas City Chiefs. We also discuss how similar the Chiefs and Bengals are. Both have quarterbacks who aren’t uber talented but simply get the job done. Alex Smith is also looking to be signed by the Chiefs and KC’s defense is one of the best in the league. Sound familiar?

We also gave our bold predictions for this week’s game. What is your bold prediction for tonight? Leave them in the comments below!

The Infinite Frontier Podcast – Episode 9 – Walk it Out

This week, Bull and Woody discuss Frontier League walk out songs. Some of the best, some of the worst, and some of the reasons why players walk out to the songs they walk out to.

We’ll hear from Rockford Aviators PA Announcer Brett Myhres, and we’ll also hear from Normal Cornbelters First Baseman Aaron Dudley, who walks out to one of the best songs ever.

In addition, Bull and Woody will go into great detail about the Atlantic League’s newest rule changes, in an effort to speed up the game.

Washington announcer Randy Gore sits down with CJ Beatty, to give us an inside look at one of the Frontier League All Stars.

Inside the Jungle – Episode 156 – Deepest Position Group?

We’re ONE WEEK into Training Camp already and we’re inching closer and closer to the first preseason game! Have you been to Training Camp so far? Do you enjoy Training Camp at Paul Brown Stadium? How do you feel it compares to previous camps at Georgetown College or better yet, Wilmington College for you old peeps! The first Training Camp I ever attended was there and I vividly remember looking at Jim Breech and being amazed at how small he was compared to everyone else.

In this week’s show:

We start off the show by touching upon the touchy subject that is Ray Rice. The Bengals won’t have to face him in Week 1 as he’ll be sitting out his very light punishment. I think we can all agree that Mr. Rice’s punishment was NOT severe enough. This is the story that WON’T be going away anytime soon.

In the last episode of the podcast we each picked one player we’re following closely this camp. Our Training Camp correspondent Andrew Miller gives us the lowdown on the guys we highlighted previously. Give Andrew a follow today @andrewfoxmiller.

Guess what? Dre Kirkpatrick is injured….again! We discuss the latest round of injuries for the Bengals.

Marvin Lewis offered up some big praise for Margus Hunt this week. Are you excited by this? Or are you in wait and see mode to see how Hunt fares in the preseason against other opposition?

Finally, Fatal Content called into the Skype line to ask us his “Question of the Night”. His question this week? Which position group do you feel is the deepest for the Bengals? I think you may be surprised by our responses. What say you? Send us your feedback at insidethejungle@spnt.tv.

The Infinite Frontier Podcast – Episode 8 – Recapping the Frontier League All-Star Week

This week, Woody and Bull review the Frontier League All-Star festivities. There were several players picked up by affiliated clubs around the All-Star Break, and we’ll discuss them in great detail.

Here’s what you’ll get in this episode:

A bizarre situation in Washington, as the first place Wild Things manager Bart Zellar resigns just before the All-Star break. How will the team respond moving forward for the rest of the Frontier League season?

The Frontier League Players of the Week, Evansville’s Chris Sweeney and Southern Illinois’s Matt Bywater were honored as well. Gateway’s Sam Leavitt put together a very nice Frontier League All-Star montage which will be replayed on the show as well.

Inside the Jungle – Episode 155 – Training Camp Eve

If you’re listening to this, chances are it’s Thursday which means the Bengals have officially kicked off their 2014 Training Camp! The day has finally come! What are you most excited about for 2014’s campaign? Which Bengals are you most looking forward to seeing on the field again in the Queen City? What are your expectations for this season? We want your feedback! Let us know!

In this week’s show:

We start off the show by choosing the one player we’re keeping a close eye on this Training Camp. If you had to pick one player, roster battle, or undrafted free agent, which player are you keeping your eye on this Training Camp? We each revealed our answers during the show.

Who is this owner and what did you do with him? Mike Brown had some pretty candid remarks this week, particularly regarding his role in the day-to-day with the club. Are you surprised? Is this confirmation of what you have suspected over the past few years? What is Mike Brown’s legacy?

Camp hasn’t even started yet and guys are already injured. Jermaine Gresham and Mike Pollak are on the Active PUP list at the moment. How worried are you about injuries?

Mike Brown also was candid this week regarding the contract negotiations with Andy Dalton, pretty much letting the public know that the ball was in Dalton’s court. It is rumored that the contract being offered to Dalton is similar in range to Colin Kaepernick’s deal in San Francisco. Should Dalton sign this deal? Should he bet on himself and wait?

Inside the Jungle – Episode 154 – Can You Run with this Line?

We’re just a few days away from Training Camp. Are you getting psyched? Real, and I mean REAL football is just days away. I never thought I could be more excited for preseason games than I am this year. Is something wrong with me?

In this week’s show:

We start off the show discussing the offensive line and the question that must be asked: Can you run with this line? The Bengals were ranked 28th in rushing a year ago. Was this due to the scheme? The playcalling? The play of the offensive line? The running backs? The lack of a fullback? Orson Charles? What do you think?

Another email we got this week asked us about George Iloka. Though not flashy, he seems to do just do his job and do it well. As Scott said during the show “I can’t recall a time last year where I cursed at the TV for a mistake made by Iloka.” Maybe that’s a good thing? I can’t recall any bonehead plays or missed tackles. Can we upgrade at that safety position or are you satisfied with what you have in Iloka?

With LeBron James returning to Cleveland on Friday, we thought it would be cool to ask which former Bengals would you be ok with welcoming back to play? Corey Dillon? Carl Pickens? Could you forgive Carson Palmer ever? Justin Smith? Jonathan Joseph?

That topic spawned a discussion on the best athletes to ever come from the State of Ohio. The Top 3 list that we came up with was 1. Cy Young 2. Jack Nicklaus 3. LeBron James. We know we left out some pretty big ones, Pete Rose, Ken Griffey, Jr. So, what say you? Who’s the best athlete to come from the state of Ohio?

After the show wrapped we again had a blast on the “After Party”. Did you miss the live show? Do you want access to the “After Party”? Check out the details on how to get these by logging on to spnt.tv/patreon. Help support the podcast today!

The Infinite Frontier Podcast – Episode 7 – Hell of a Hall

This week, Woody and Bull take a look at the Inaugural Frontier League Hall of Fame Class, and hear about how the process to develop the Hall of Fame began.

Here’s what you’ll get in this episode:

Woody and Bull will hear from Gateway Grizzlies General Manager Steve Gomrick on the creation of the Frontier League Hall of Fame, and we’ll hear from Steve Tahsler, the Deputy Commissioner of the Frontier League about the Hall of Fame, and many other topics.

Since the Frontier League All-Star teams have been announced, we’ll also dive into the balloting process, and discuss how everyone votes differently on the topic.

We’ll also hear from the Gateway Grizzlies broadcast team of Sam Leavitt and Adam Young, as they sit down with the Frontier League Players of the Week, Niko Vazquez and Kerry Kelley.

Woody and Bull also set the tone for shows in the weeks to come. First, they’ll discuss the one player that they would have loved to have called games for, and we take another in depth look at the upcoming race during the Frontier League All-Star week between Adam Young and Evansville Otters broadcaster Mike Radomski.

Inside the Jungle – Episode 153 – Who is More Important?

You know the Bengals are doing things right when on a July night in the middle of the summer, we can spend 60 minutes nitpicking the Bengals roster and their upcoming season. Sometimes I find myself forgetting that this team has been to three straight postseasons. Maybe that’s because all 3 of those appearances have been largely…. forgettable. But this team has come light years from the lost decade in the 90’s. This team is relevant. This team is young, it’s hungry and gosh darnit, fun to watch! Training camp is just a few weeks away, can you feel the excitement??? Are you getting pumped?

In this week’s show:

We welcome Mr. Whodeyfans himself Mickey back to the program after a 3 week hiatus. Fresh off his 91 on a Mrytle Beach golf course he gets the conversation started with a bang. We opened up the program discussing AJ Green’s #9 ranking on the NFL Network’s Top 100 player list

The conversation then shifted to the debate of importance. Who’s more important to the Bengals? Vontaze Burfict or AJ Green? If you had to pick one player to miss a game, who would you pick?

Andy Dalton and his cast of Bengals receivers met up this week at TCU to work together and get ready for the 2014 season. As a fan, what do you make of these activities? Do you feel it helps? Do you like the leadership displayed by our quarterback?

We take a closer look at the Bengals running backs, in particular Giovani Bernard and Jeremy Hill. We debate which backs would get more carries in 2014? This led to the roster spot of Benjarvus Green-Ellis. From a numbers standpoint, it doesn’t look good for the Bengals running back. Will he make this squad in 2014? Should he based on his performance in 2013?

The Infinite Frontier Podcast – Episode 6 – Are We There Yet?

This week, Bull and Woody discuss the 2014 Frontier League All-Star Game, and some the longest games in their broadcasting careers.

Here’s what you’ll get in this episode:

Long games, they are every broadcaster’s nightmare! Woody and Bull will share some of their horror stories from broadcasting those seemingly never ending contests. We’ll also hear from Terry Bonadonna of the Windy City Thunderbolts who has called his fair share of long games as well, and Washington Wild Things Broadcaster Randy Gore talks to umpire Tony Maners who umpired the longest game in the history of baseball, and his name is in Cooperstown to prove it!

Also this week, Woody sits down with Steve Gomrick, General Manager of the Gateway Grizzlies who are hosting the 2014 Frontier League All-Star Game. Gomrick will also touch on the Hall of Fame, while giving his radio announcer, Adam Young, a fiscal vote of confidence in his upcoming race against Evansville Otters broadcaster Mike Radomski!

We’ll also hear from the Frontier League Players of the week, as Windy City’s Terry Bonadonna sits down with Kyle Robinson, and Traverse City Beach Bums broadcaster Kevin Burke speaks with Casey Delgado. The mailbag section is loaded up this week as well!

Inside the Jungle – Episode 152 – The Brat is Back!

Happy 4th of July everyone! I know it’s a few days early but I hope everyone has a happy and safe holiday! On this week’s show we discuss the re-hiring of Bob Bratkowski by the Bengals. We also dig deeper into the QB rankings that ESPN released this week.

In this week’s show:

In case you’ve missed it, which is entirely possible since this wasn’t news announced by the Bengals, but Bob Bratkowski is now a coaching consultant with the team. In case you’re wondering if it’s THAT Bob Bratkowski, well, you’re right. It’s THAT one. Relax though. He’s not calling plays, he’s more of a special assistant to Marvin Lewis.

We also discuss the quarterback rankings that were announced by ESPN this week. The Red Rifle, who became a first time father this week (congrats!), was ranked 19th in the NFL. Is that too high? Too low? Just right? What say you?

We ended the night with some great callers, John from Kentucky made his triumphant return to the Jungle Line, Greg from Cincy, Guttersnake, and Fatal Content asked this Question of the Night: What gives you the most optimism heading into 2014? What is the biggest obstacle to the Bengals winning the 2014 AFC North Division? There was one resounding answer to the last question. What do you think it was?

Inside the Jungle – Episode 151 – Bengals Ring of Honor?

This week on the show the guys discuss the linebackers and the excitement surrounding the return of Emmanuel Lamur. We also discuss some of the players we feel may have a breakout season in 2014. We ended the night discussing a Bengals Hall of Fame/Ring of Honor. Why don’t the Bengals have one? Should they have one? Which Bengals great is a borderline candidate for induction?

In this week’s show:

We start off the program welcoming in a new member of the podcast team, Scott Bantel. Scott is one of the staff writers at CincyJungle.com and will be filling in from time to time.

We take a closer look at the Bengals linebacker group. This position group may be the most hotly contested position group this August. How many backers can they keep? There may be some surprise names being left off the final 53 man roster this summer.

We discuss the recent news surrounding Bengals DE Sam Montgomery and his arrest over the weekend.

Who will be some of the breakout players in 2014? Anthony, Scott and I debate some of the names we feel may breakout this fall.

We ended the night discussing the Bengals and why they should retire numbers, or have a ring of honor/hall of fame. We also dive into the subject surrounding NFL cheerleaders and their lawsuit. If the cheerleaders are able to unionize do you see NFL teams eliminating their cheerleader squads all together?

The Infinite Frontier Podcast – Episode 5 – Rule of Thirds

Woody and Bull break down the season, a third of the way through it. In addition, they’ll take a look at some of the best players in the Frontier League at this point of the season. They also forecast the Frontier League All-Star rosters, as the voting process will begin in just a couple of weeks.

Inside the Jungle – Episode 150 – Gotta Love the Passion

150 episodes! I am honestly shocked and amazed that this show continues to grow each and every week. Folks like you who download this show each week, folks like you who call in or tune in on Wednesday nights just make this an absolute blast to produce. From all of us on the show at CincyJungle.com and SPNT.tv, THANK YOU for your support! Here’s to the next 150 episodes!

In this week’s show:

We start off the program discussing the Bengals cutting running back Jeff Scott. We here on the program thought that Jeff Scott had the chance to possibly unseat Brandon Tate in return game but clearly the Bengals felt he wasn’t a part of their future.

We discuss the recent mailbag at Bengals.com where are GFOP (good friend of the podcast) Geoff Hobson states that the Bengals weren’t happy with Gresham in 2013.

We also discuss some of the news coming out of minicamps and OTA’s regarding the play of Dre Kirkpatrick. It sounds as though he’s having a rough go so far in camp.

We take phone calls from Guttersnake, Doc Ox and GFOP Chris from Dayton. As you may recall Chris predicted a few weeks ago on the show that the Bengals would go 4-12 this fall. He calls in regarding the contract of Colin Kaepernick and discusses why Andy Dalton should NOT get the same kind of money. He also believes that Blaine Gabbert could do just as good a job with this offense as Andy Dalton has. Stretch?

The Infinite Frontier Podcast – Episode 4 – Unwritten Rules

Coming up on this week’s show, Woody and Bull will discuss baseball brawls, which coincide with their discussion on baseball’s unwritten rules.

Here’s what you’ll get in this episode:

We’ll start the show by congratulating this week’s Frontier League Players of the week. River City Rascals radio voice, Jordan Shaheen sits down with the Frontier League Pitcher of the Week, Tommy Menoza, and Mark Vasko, voice of the Joliet Slammers interviews the Frontier League Hitter of the Week, Russ Moldenhauer.

Baseball’s Unwritten rules take center stage in this week’s show. We will hear from Washington Wild Things radio announcer Randy Gore, as well as Chris Dugan, the beat writer for the Washington Wild Things at the Observer-Reporter. Normal Cornbelters radio announcer and former umpire Greg Halbleib, and Mike VerSchave, the assistant GM with the Windy City Thunderbolts give us their thoughts on the topic as well.

Inside the Jungle – Episode 149 – 2014 Taste of the NFL

In 2013 we celebrated episode 100 of this podcast by sending our very own Whodeyfans down to Paul Brown Stadium for the Taste of the NFL. Well, Katie Blackburn invited him I should say. It’s that time of year again and Wednesday night marked the 2014 version of the event. Once again our very own Whodeyfans was down among the people, the Bengals players, coaches and staff. Along with his brother-in-law Tommy Huller, the two each recorded some interviews with some of the players. It’s awesome that the Bengals have welcomed us back to their event and we hope that we can do it again in 2015!

In this week’s show:

We start the show off with a bang with Mickey on location at Paul Brown Stadium along with his brother-in-law Tommy. The two were our correspondents for the night at the 2014 Taste of the NFL.

Anthony and I listen in to the different interviews that Mickey and Tommy recorded. We heard from Tyler Eifert, Jeremy Hill, Dane Sanzenbacher, Margus Hunt, Darqueze Dennard, Giovani Bernard, Vontaze Burfict, Marvin Jones, Russell Bodine and AJ McCarron.

We discuss the Bengals signings today, OT Will Svitek and rookie CB Victor Hayward.

I know this is a football website but today marks the first day of the World Cup! So Anthony and I offer up our predictions for the winner of the 2014 World Cup.

This week on the Infinite Frontier, Bull and Woody review the Players of the week, take questions on our first mailbag segment, introduce our new player spotlight segment, and then dive into our two big topics of the week, promotions and travel.

Here’s what you’ll get in this episode:

First, we’ll hear from River City Rascals Broadcaster Jordan Shaheen, as he interviews the Frontier League “Hitter of the Week”, Josh Ludy. Then we’ll turn it over to Gateway’s Sam Levitt who interviews Ja’Vaughn West, who earned Frontier League “Pitcher of the Week” honors.

The mailbag section makes its debut this week, as we take your questions and comments on both Facebook and Twitter. This week, we answer questions about potential destinations for Frontier League expansion, and we’ll touch on the Independent League based in Tiffin, Ohio.

Inside the Jungle – Episode 148 – QB Contracts and Player Rankings

As the calendar flips over to June, it usually marks the starting point for another season of Inside the Jungle. In previous years after the Bengals season would wrap up, we here at the podcast would go our separate ways. But this offseason we made a choice to continue doing the show each and every week for YOU fans and I honestly couldn’t be more happy with that decision. You fans have come out each and every week and supported us like crazy. Whether you’re watching us live each Wednesday night, downloading the podcasts on your phone, even supporting us through our Patreon campaign, I can’t say this enough but I am amazed, humbled, and thankful for the support of the show. We love doing this show because of YOU. So here’s to kicking off SEASON FIVE of the podcast!

In this week’s show:

News broke Wednesday afternoon out of San Francisco. Colin Kaepernick’s new contact is a 6 year deal worth $110 million and $61 million of that is guaranteed. That’s a lot of money for someone who hasn’t won a Super Bowl and isn’t named Manning or Brady. Andy Dalton’s agent is smiling right now.

We visited with Jake Liscow from Pro Football Focus to discuss the Top 101 Player List they published recently. Jake touched on a number of topics but explained why certain Bengals players were ranked where they were.

The Bengals signed new offensive tackle Chandler Burden. We also offer up our thoughts and prayers to Devon Still and his family as it was announced this week his daughter has been diagnosed with cancer. Bengals nation is with you.

We offer up our predictions for the draft pick most likely to be listed as a starter once the Bengals season kicks off in September. What say you? Which of the draft picks do you think will be a starter?

After the show wrapped we again had a blast on the “After Party”. We were joined via Google+ Hangout by Kurt Campbell in Asheville, NC and the one and only Amas from Dallas, TX! The Infinite Frontier Podcast – Episode 2 – The Sequel

One week after the maiden voyage of the Infinite Frontier, “Woody” and “Bull” take a shot at the sequel. Coming up on this week’s show, we’ll hear from the Frontier League Players of the week, as Normal Radio Announcer Greg Halbleib sits down with Mike Schwartz, and Southern Illinois Radio Announcer Jason Guerette talks with Tyler Lavigne.

The two hot topics for the week were no-hitters and rain delays, every radio play by play announcers dream and nightmare respectively! What do players, managers and announcers do during rain delays? Also, what’s the proper protocol for announcers during no-no’s/ What can or can’t you say/do as a player or coach during a no-hitter?

We also hear from Schaumburg Boomers manager Jamie Bennett, Lake Erie Crushers skipper Chris Mongiardo, Joliet Slammers skipper Jeff Isom, and the voice of the Gateway Grizzlies, Adam Young on these topics as well.

Next week we’ll debut our mailbag segment. Make sure you interact with the show, by liking us on Facebook and following us on Twitter @InfFrontier. Inside the Jungle – Episode 147 – Talking About Practice

This week at Paul Brown Stadium actual football is being played, well, practiced is more like it. The 2014 Bengals gathered down at the PBS practice fields and weight facilities while one of their marquee players is missing in action. Pro-Bowl tight end Jermaine Gresham is the only player not attending the voluntary workouts. He is under no obligation to attend these workouts and activities. However, he is in a contract year and it does send a weird message to the rest of your teammates who are all working hard this week. Would you want to be the ONLY one not there? Who knows, maybe Gresh has a perfectly valid reason for not being there. After all, it is “voluntary”.

In this week’s show:

We’re talking about practice! That’s right OTA’s kicked off this week and we opened up the discussion with the absence of Jermaine Gresham. We also admired 1st round draft pick Darqueze Dennard practicing despite not being under contract. #ballsy

Anthony boldly predicts the starting offensive line for September and firmly believes that newly drafted center Russell Bodine will be your starter. What say you?

We also discuss Benjarvus Green-Ellis taking third team reps at running back, Marshall Newhouse at LT and also the return game in Special Teams has been missing that game changing X-factor.

Doc Ox called in to get our take on Pro Football Focus calling AJ Green “overrated”. Anthony, Mickey and I both believe that there is no way AJ Green should be 97th on this list.

After the show wrapped we again had a blast on the “After Party”. We were joined via Google+ Hangout by Kurt Campbell in Asheville, NC and much to our surprise at the end of the night, the one and only JUNGLEJOHN called in to discuss his thoughts on the Bengals. Inside the Jungle – Episode 146 – A Difference of Opinion

The Bengals are getting set to kick off their “voluntary” offseason workouts in a few weeks with some fresh faces in new places. We discussed the draft and some of the College Free Agent signings this week with good friend of the show Geoff Hobson from Bengals.com. We’re just a few weeks away from REAL football! Only six more weeks until Training Camp begins! What are you looking forward to seeing most this fall? A revamped rushing attack? A ball control offense? A playoff win?

In this week’s show:

We welcome in good friend of the show Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com to discuss the latest developments surrounding the Bengals. From the draft to Free Agency and the injury recoveries of Leon Hall and Geno Atkins. It’s all here in this podcast episode.

The phone lines were on fire tonight as we had some great calls from the usual suspects Fatal Content and John from KY. Adam, Eric called in but Chris from Dayton brought the house down at the end of the show with his passion. He feels this team will go 4-12 this season. What say you?

We gave out our usual shoutouts and read an awesome iTunes review from Brett.

Also, as many of you listeners know, we mention the Rolsen family quite often on the program. Richard, Lenny and Larry usually find the time to call into the program and when they’re not calling in, they’re tuned in and active in the chat room. This week, Larry suffered a stroke. We ask that you keep the Rolsen family in your thoughts and prayers this week and hope for a speedy recovery for Aloha Larry! From everyone here at CincyJungle.com and SPNT.tv, we’re thinking about you Larry! Get well soon!

Inside the Jungle – Episode 145 – Recapping the 2014 Draft

Well now that months, and months, and months of waiting for the Draft has finally ended, how do you feel the Bengals did this year? I’ve seen positive reviews all over the place from some of the national pundits. I’ve seen some pretty scathing reviews of this year’s draft as well. I was one of those fans who went off the deep on the final day of the draft. It was right about the time the Kansas City Chiefs foolishly took Aaron Murray, one spot before the Bengals were on the clock. Ha. The Chiefs are going to regret that pick someday. What were they thinking!? I made no secret over the past few weeks on the show that I’d like to see the Bengals select Murray. At least we got the quarterback who’s beaten him a few times in the SEC. How many other teams can say their 3rd string quarterback has 2 BCS Championship rings?

In this week’s show:

We welcome Timm Bates back to the program this week and the 4 of us discuss Darqueze Dennard, the Bengals first round pick in 2014. With the selection of Dennard, the Bengals now have 5 first round picks at Cornerback. Solid.

We welcomed in Paul Dehner from the Cincinnati Enquirer to discuss the QB situation, the Draft and CFA’s the Bengals signed and more. Paul’s the man and his coverage of the Bengals at the Enquirer is top notch.

The Jungle Line was buzzing tonight, lots of calls and fans with questions about the draft and their take on how the Bengals did this past weekend.

We gave out our usual shoutouts and read an awesome email from Cathal in Dublin, Ireland!

Inside the Jungle – Episode 144 – NFL Draft Eve

Congrats Bengals fans! You’ve made it! The day has finally come! The NFL Draft will kickoff later today in New York City and the Bengals will be picking 24th. So many variables and possibilities are running through my head. Do they take a cornerback? Do they take a defensive tackle? An offensive tackle? A WR, or RB? Will one of the big name quarterbacks slip to them at 24, should they trade up to get Johnny Manziel if he’s available? We’ll all find out later tonight!

In this week’s show:

Anthony and I discuss some of the positions at play for the Bengals at 24.

I quiz Anthony on some NFL Draft Trivia and the dude didn’t disappoint.

Richard called in and asked who we attributed the most recent success in the NFL Draft to. Is it Coach Lewis? Mike Brown? Katie Blackburn? Scouting Department?

We gave out our usual shoutouts. This week we shouted out Beth who tuned in to her first live show and Dan who sent an awesome email from England.

After the show wrapped we had a blast on the “After Party” as we continued to discuss the draft and our plans for our live show Thursday night. Did you miss the live show? Inside the Jungle – Episode 143 – The Goodberry Perspective

We’re almost there Bengals fans! Just 7 more days between now and the biggest night of the offseason. Round 1 of the NFL Draft. As a Bengals fan, this is the time of year we get excited, this has been stripes bread and butter. Every year since 2010 this franchise has drafted better than almost anyone in the league. For all you fans who were up in arms two months ago when free agency started and watched as the Bengals stood pat and did NOTHING, let’s hope they used that time to prepare for the draft. They’ve had an extra 3 weeks to prepare, no excuses! So the question I pose to you is which position do they draft in Round 1? Cornerback? Running back? O-line, or better yet, QB???? 7 more days Bengals fans! It’s almost here!

In this week’s show:

We welcome back Mr. Mock Draft himself Joe Goodberry who fills us in on his draft thoughts and who he feels would be great fits for the Bengals. Here is the link to his big board and First Round mock draft.

In Joe’s first round mock he has the Bengals taking Darqueze Dennard from MSU, but a lot of Bengals fans have their eyes on Jason Verrette from TCU or Justin Gilbert from Oklahoma State. If those 3 are available at 24, who would you choose?

Anthony asked Joe a great question, much to the chagrin of Mickey, about which players he hopes the Bengals avoid in this years draft.

We continue our Position Breakdown Series by looking at season that the defensive line. Most of the focus was on Carlos Dunlap’s year as well as the surprise of Wallace Gilberry. After reviewing the stats though, Devon Still’s 2013 wasn’t great, 10 games, 7 tackles? Yikes.

After the show wrapped we had a blast on the “After Party” as we relived some most discussion about Andy Dalton and where he would fit in this years draft class. Did you miss the live show? Inside the Jungle – Episode 142 – The Schedule Release and LB’s

The NFL has come a long way. Do you think the founders of the league would have ever seen the day where the release of THE SCHEDULE would have a primetime slot on televisions in this country? It just goes to show how popular this sport really is. I would bet large sums of money that the ratings for the schedule release were higher than 85% of the baseball games televised Wednesday night. Now that the schedules are out, what do you make of the Bengals slate in 2014? Should be a fun one to dissect over the next few months leading up to kickoff on September 7th!

In this week’s show:

We take our initial look at the 2014 schedule for the Cincinnati Bengals. They spend most of November on the road but in warm/dome climates, then have two games with the Steelers in the month of December. What do you make of the schedule? Do you like the early bye in week 4?

We discuss the Bengals exercising the option for the 2015 in AJ Green’s contract.

As if we hadn’t debated Andy Dalton enough on this podcast, we ventured down that road again. This time we debate the comments made this week in the local media and how he handles himself after big game losses in press conferences. Is this much ado about nothing? Were his comments this week ill-advised?

We continue our Position Breakdown Series by looking at season that the LB’s had in 2013. Most of the focus was on Vontaze Burfict and his contract negotations. Are you afraid his level of commitment may drop once he’s been paid? Which of the LB’s was the most improved in 2013?

After the show wrapped we had a blast on the “After Party” as we relived some great films by the Farrely brothers (Dumb and Dumber, Kingpin, There’s Something About Mary). Did you miss the live show? Inside the Jungle – Episode 141 – Cornering the Draft

We are now 3 weeks away from the biggest night in the NFL offseason, the NFL Draft! How many mock drafts have you read? How many of them do you believe? Will the Bengals take a CB in the first round? How much faith do you put in the Bengals knocking another draft out of the park? They seemed to have really done well with this process the last few years (knock on wood). Let’s hope this trend continues in 2014.

In this week’s show:

We discussed the late date of the NFL Draft. Usually around this time we’re in prime draft mode but this year its different. Do you like the late draft date? Who do you think it favors more? The teams? The players?

We take a look at the offseason schedule over the next 3 months leading up to the first Training Camp practice on July 23rd.

We take some fantastic phone calls from Greg, John from Kentucky, Chris from Dayton and Guttersnake. We love hearing from you, so don’t be shy! Join us for a live show and have your voice heard.

We continue our Position Breakdown Series by looking at season that the CB’s had in 2013. Most of the focus was on Dre Kirkpatrick and his “bust” designation. Is this fair? Is he a bust? Chris from Dayton says he’ll eat his left Timberland boot if Dre has 6 INT’s this fall. I’d love to see it!

Inside the Jungle – Episode 140 – Playin it Safe

Yes, it’s true. Some of you noticed over the past week that the name of the show was changing. We’ve decided to re-brand the show so that it aligns more closely with the CincyJungle website. The podcast will be the same format and still hosted by yours truly (sorry). You’ll still be able to find the show in the same directories and apps, iTunes, Stitcher, TuneIn, etc.

In this week’s show:

We discussed the news announced Wednesday regarding the 2014 preseason schedule. The Bengals will have one primetime preseason game in Arizona against their former quarterback. Is this a big deal anymore?

It was also announced that Dane Sanzenbacher has signed is tender and is no longer a restricted free agent. Dane had a pretty solid preseason in 2013, can he fill the shoes of Andrew Hawkins?

We took a closer look at the Safety group in 2013. Reggie Nelson and George Iloka had pretty solid years. Ultimate vet Chris Crocker played well in relief of Taylor Mays/Leon Hall but will likely not return with the signing of Danieal Manning. The Bengals drafted Shawn Williams a year ago in the third round in what was considered a reach pick. Can he improve and contribute in 2014?

The Who-Dey Weekly Podcast – Episode 139 – That’s Tight

This week the owners met in Orlando, FL to discuss some of the rules changes at the Owners Meetings. Mike Brown, who rarely gives media interviews these days, had some pretty interesting comments regarding the franchise and the state of their quarterback. If you’re reading between the lines, it sounds as though the Bengals are eager to get an extension done with the Red Rifle but the Dalton camp are feeling like their quarterback may be undervalued by the Bengals. That’s pure speculation of course but from the information we do have, Marvin Lewis has staked his claim to Dalton being HIS guy from here on out. Their futures seem to be tied together at the moment.

In this week’s show:

We discussed the news that the Bengals have held off signings some of their bigger free agent players and let them walk due to the uncertainty of the salary cap and the contract talks with Andy Dalton. They want to get a deal done before the season, but should they? We weigh in.

We also look at some of the other news around PBS this week, Domata Peka has reached an agreement on an extension and some of the other free agent activity (or lack of) surrounding the club.

We took a closer look at the Tight End group in 2013. When looking at the statistical analysis of the two main tight ends, Jermaine Gresham and Tyler Eifert had almost the same exact season. Gresham had 46 catches (a career low) for 458 yards (career low) and 4 TD’s (tied for a career low). Eifert in his rookie season had 39 catches for 445 yards and 2 TD’s. When polled, Bengals fans tend to feel that in 2014, Tyler Eifert will have a bigger impact than Jermaine Gresham, to the tune of 65%.

The Who-Dey Weekly Podcast – Episode 138 – The Newest Bengal and the WR’s

It’s always good when breaking news happens while we’re recording this podcast. Not even one minute into recording the word came out that the Bengals had signed Jason Campbell to a one year deal. Cue the music! That’ll get Bengals fans to settle down about Free Agency right? I hope you can sense my sarcasm. Campbell’s best days as a quarterback came under Hue Jackson out in Oakland, so it’s not a terrible signing. Hopefully it will help the progression of Andy Dalton.

In this week’s show:

It was announced this week that Marvin Lewis and the Bengals had agreed on a contract extension through 2015. Was it deserved? We debated.

We also discuss some of the other news, James Harrison being released, the signing of Taylor Mays and Vinny Rey. We also discussed some of the Free Agent visits occurring this week. Robert Ayers visited PBS and left without a deal. WR Louis Murphy is also expected to visit the Queen City soon.

We took a closer look at the Wide Receiver group in 2013. Outside of AJ Green and Marvin Jones, you can say that the group was just kind of eh. Sanu had a disappointing year, Hawkins spent half the year sidelined due to injury. Signs are pointing up about Cobi Hamilton who the Bengals drafted a year ago.

The Who-Dey Weekly Podcast – Episode 137 – Free Agency and a Visit from our pal Geoff Hobson

We hope you enjoyed our bonus episode last night as we talked Day 1 of Free Agency. On this episode of the podcast you’re getting the scoop from Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com. Geoff has been on the show many times and brings it every single time. This appearance was no different. Geoff talks about the Free Agency plans with the Bengals, the offensive line, Andy Dalton and Marvin Lewis. We’ve heard from both sides of the spectrum though as a few fans called in voicing their disgust for the lack of ambition shown by the club. Which side of the fence do you sit on?

In this week’s show:

This week we kick things off with Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com. Geoff was kind enough to hang out with us for about 40 minutes in this episode and it was podcast gold.

Geoff feels that the biggest offseason move the Bengals made was the promoting of Hue Jackson to be the Offensive Coordinator. He also thinks that this is exactly what this offense needs. Someone who’s not going to make Andy Dalton throw the ball 50 times a game.

We opened up the phone lines and spoke with a few Bengals fans, JT rang in to discuss the Bengals lack of ambition in Free Agency and questioning why there is no effort being made to improve this team. What are your thoughts? Should the Bengals be spending money in Free Agency knowing they need to sign Burfict, Green, possibly Collins, Gresham, and (gulp) Dalton?

We ran out of time this week and didn’t get a chance to give out our shoutouts to the latest contributors and supporters of the podcast. Want access to our bonus content known as “the After Party”? The Who-Dey Weekly Podcast – Special Edition – Day 1 AFC North Free Agency Recap

Free Agency kicked off today and the Bengals said goodbye to defensive end Michael Johnson who signed a long term deal in Tampa Bay. Also some other signings of note, the Browns have signed Andrew Hawkins to an offer sheet, a 4 year deal worth $12.2 million dollars. Yikes. Tackle Anthony Collins is making his visits with rumors that he could end up in Tampa Bay or possibly Washington with his former offensive coordinator Jay Gruden. On this episode we recapped the day that was around the AFC North.

In this special episode:

We welcome George Vogel to the Who-Dey Weekly podcast. George has been a sports anchor at Cincinnati’s Channel 5 for many years and has seen the Bengals be spenders in free agency, and watched them stand pat. Find out what he thinks about the state of the offensive line.

We also discuss the huge signings the Browns made today. Donte Whitner is now a Brown and potentially so is Andrew Hawkins. Hawk was offered a 4 years $12.2 million deal that the Bengals have 5 days to decide if they’ll match the offer. The Browns just got a really expensive gunner. In 35 games with the Bengals, Hawkins had 995 receiving yards and 4 TD’s.

We hear from Neal Coolong from Behind the Steel Curtain to talk about the Steelers activity on Day 1 of Free agency.

Last but not least we talked the impact Eugene Monroe’s signing will have in Baltimore now that they’ve also shored up Dennis Pitta as well.

We’re LIVE for our regularly scheduled programming on Wednesday night with Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com so make sure you tune in or subscribe to the podcast so you don’t miss any part of the show!

The Who-Dey Weekly Podcast – Episode 136 – Hitting the Bengals Beat with Paul Dehner

Last week it was the combine, this week its all about Free Agency. The Bengals chose not to tag either Anthony Collins or Michael Johnson. Will they sign both? Will both sign elsewhere? If you had to pick only one who would you sign? Those are the kinds of questions Bengals fans are asking today. Will they sign a free agent running back? A safety? Will they do ANYTHING in Free Agency? That has not been the Bengals M.O. the past few years. They’ve used the draft to built this roster and you can’t argue with the results. I know that fans want playoff wins, but to be in the postseason three straight years is no small feat, considering where this franchise was. You don’t win Super Bowls in March.

In this week’s show:

This week we kick things off with our predictions for Saturday. Will the Bengals sign any players when the Free Agency period opens?

Fresh off being promoted to the head writer covering the Bengals beat, Paul Dehner of the Cincinnati Enquirer joins us to talk about landing his dream job. Paul also drops his Bengals knowledge when it comes to Free Agency, the draft, the Red Rifle and The Crusader.

We hear from the usual suspects on the phone, Fatal Content, John from Kentucky, Antoine in St. Louis and Kurt in North Carolina.

The Who-Dey Weekly Podcast – Episode 135 – Reviewing the Combine

There is nothing like spending an entire weekend watching a bunch of dudes running around in tight spandex and muscle shirts, jumping, sprinting, lifting. In the words of Anthony Cozensa, “Creepy”. Regardless the NFL Network put on a show this weekend when the annual NFL Scouting Combine took place in Indy. We saw the big names like Clowney, Manziel and Sammy Watkins all do their thing, solidfying themselves as first round picks. On this week’s episode we break it down Bengals style. Which guys and which positions were noticeable this weekend?

In this week’s show:

We start by welcoming the newest member of the Cincy Jungle staff, Jason Marcum, to the podcast. Jason spent most of the weekend reviewing the footage on the NFL Network and posting like CRAZY here at the Jungle. He had some good insights on the combine as well as free agency.

One of those points being Jason Campbell. Would he be a good choice to bring in as a backup behind Andy Dalton? He had one of his best years in Oakland under Hue Jackson before breaking his collar bone leading to the biggest trade heist ever.

We offer up our usual shoutouts, including a big congratulations to the Cincinnati Enquirer’s Paul Dehner. It was announced today that Paul will be the head beat writer covering the Cincinnati Bengals. Congrats Paul!

Fatal Content rings in again with his Question of the Night: “If you could trade for any coach in the NFL outside of Bill Belichick, who would you trade for?”

Greg from Madeira also rings in with a great point. The Bengals are still in a position to draft the best player available, don’t be surprised to see a WR in round 1.

We also announced our newest campaign to support the podcast. Check it out today over at patreon.com/whodeyweekly. If you love the podcast content we produce each week, your help is much appreciated.

The Who-Dey Weekly Podcast – Episode 134 – Committee of Running Backs

There has been a lot of talk over the past few weeks about some potential free agent running backs that will be on the market. We can all dream right? The two running backs for the Bengals in 2013 had an OK season. The Lawfirm and Giovani Bernard combined for 1,451 yards in 2013 but the sense amongst Bengals fans is that the running game struggled for most of the year. Should the Bengals look to upgrade this position in 2014? Are you comfortable with giving more of the workload to Bernard? Should the Bengals look to the draft for a bruiser like Carlos Hyde or a speed demon like De’Anthony Thomas?

In this week’s show:

We start by taking a look at the year that was for the Bengals running backs in 2013. Did you know Benjarvus Green-Ellis actually increased his TD total from 2012? He rushed the ball nearly 300 yards less on 50 less carries though.

Fatal Content, one of the biggest fans of the show, calls in with his Question of the Night: “Do you guys think that in your heart of hearts Margus Hunt can rightfully replace Michael Johnson? And if he went to another team and tore it up would you guys then regret not re-signing him?” What are your thoughts? Comment below!

What is the role and future of Rex Burkhead?

We got an email from Mike Smith, one of our podcast fans from across the pond asking about the NFL putting a franchise in London.

We wrapped the episode with a phone call from Kurt talking about some of the big name free agents on the market and a few of the running backs in this year’s draft class. Which running back (free agent or draft) would you most like to see in a Bengals uniform in 2014?

The Who-Dey Weekly Podcast – Episode 133 – The Left Tackle Conundrum

The Bengals face an interesting next few months of the offseason. What do they do with Michael Johnson? What do they do with Anthony Collins? What do they do with Andrew Whitworth? These are the difficult decisions this coaching staff and front office face. I think we’ve all pretty much come to the conclusion that Michael Johnson is a goner in free agency. My guess is that he’ll command some big time money on the market. The Bengals though have planned ahead at that position, drafting Margus Hunt a year ago was a clear indication they were anticipating this very thing. The bigger question though is what to do at left tackle? Do they keep Whitworth at tackle, a position he stated this week he preferred? Do they move him inside and sign Anthony Collins to an extension? Maybe the answer lies in free agency? The draft? It’s a guessing game, and we try to figure out the Bengals best option on this episode of Who-Dey Weekly

In this week’s show:

We start by taking a look at the comments made by Andrew Whitworth, stating his preference to remain at left tackle. Where is his best fit NOW?

A few phone calls led to a discussion on free agency and the draft, particularly for the defense.

The sample size of Anthony Collins is very small, only 7 starts in 2013, but to his credit he played well in those 7 starts. Should the Bengals show him the money? Will another team in the NFL?

We capped the episode with a discussion on Leon Hall’s recovery. All signs are pointing up for Hall and he may just be ready for September ball. We also think that there’s a strong indication that come May the Bengals will take a CB in the first round. Which position do you think they’ll take in Round 1? Send us your emails or comment below.

The Who-Dey Weekly Podcast – Episode 132 – What’s Missing from this Bengals Equation?

How about the Subpar Bowl on Sunday night? At least the commercials were good….. So the Broncos didn’t have their best game Sunday night against the Seahawks. If that was a best of 3 series though I wonder which team would prevail. Seattle played one of the best football games I’ve ever seen on Sunday night. Their defense was suffocating, ferocious hits across the field and they were opportunistic. It was a sight to see. In the meantime on the Bengals and Who-Dey Weekly front, last week’s episode surpassed the all time downloads record for one episode. Thank you to everyone who downloaded the show this past week and I hope that you continue to stick around throughout the offseason as we keep bringing you weekly Bengals content. Now, on to the show!

In this week’s show:

This week we lead off the show talking about the Super Bowl. Could the Bengals have fared differently against THAT Seahawks team Sunday night?

Pete Carroll was a joke in the NFL in the 90’s. Then he went out to the left coast and started building a dynasty. He’s now taken the Seattle Seahawks to the top of the NFL, and they’re the youngest team in this year’s postseason. Could Pete Carroll take this Bengals roster and win a Super Bowl? If not him who else? What’s currently missing from this Bengals equation?

We love shouting out to fans of the show so if you want to be shouted out just get in touch. We read a listener email about what he would do in the instance the Bengals would make it to the Super Bowl. We also read an iTunes review from Norway.

We capped the episode with Mickey quizzing me about the Bengals free agents compared to some of the other free agent players who will be on the market. Which of the mentioned UFA’s would be upgrades for the Bengals?

The Who-Dey Weekly Podcast – Episode 131 – Top 3 Position Groups Needing Upgrades

It’s getting tougher and tougher for me to watch the Super Bowl coverage this week knowing the Bengals had a team that could have been playing on Sunday. Instead I’ll be watching from my couch, chowing down on some chips and dip. I used to have a Super Bowl ritual. I’d go to the store on Saturday, find me the thickest steak I could buy and on Sunday I’d broil it up for the big game. I think the last Super Bowl I did that for was Super Bowl XLIII Steelers vs Cardinals back in 2009. Maybe my tradition died when Santonio Holmes supposedly got two feet down in the endzone. I’m still not convinced. I’m thinking though that now that my kids are 5, maybe it’s time to start that tradition back up again. Do you have any Super Bowl watching traditions? Do you go to the same party each year? Hang out with the same group of friends? Anyone else think Monday should be a National Holiday?

In this week’s show:

This week we lead off the show talking about the highly anticipated Pro Bowl. Did you know they played the Pro Bowl already?

We discussed the new format and how it pitted teammates like Vontaze Burfict and AJ Green against one another. You think AJ was afraid to go across the middle?

We discuss our 2013 Season Awards which you can personally vote on here.

Anthony, Mickey, Timm and I gave our lists for our Top 3 position groups that need upgrading in the offseason either through Free Agency or the draft. If you had to rank the top 3 where would you go? Comment below.

Last but not least we talk a little bit about the Super Bowl and give our score predictions.

The Who-Dey Weekly Podcast – Episode 130 – 25 Years is a Long Time

Do you remember where you were January 22, 1989? I sure do. I was 2nd grader in Cincinnati, OH watching Joe Montana drive down the field in Super Bowl XXIII. The mental images of John Taylor catching the slant pass in the endzone still hurt. I can’t believe it’s been 25 years. In those 25 years since the Bengals played in the Super Bowl the have just 6 postseason appearances. The 90’s were a very rough decade for this franchise to say the least. I’m still having a hard time grasping the 25 years. My children aren’t too far from the age I was when they last played in the Super Bowl. The good news is that this current Bengals team is a lot closer to the 88 Bengals than we give them credit for. Yes we know there are issues with this roster, but they aren’t THAT far off. Let’s hope another solid offseason can keep this window of opportunity open for just a while longer.

In this week’s show:

This week we lead off the show welcoming in our old friend and one of the originals here on the podcast, Mr. Timm Bates.

We look back at the 25 years and share our memories of that awful night in Miami where the 49ers knocked off our Bengals in Super Bowl XXIII.

Marvin Lewis says today that the Bengals are rebooting the reboot.

Anthony fills us in on his trip to the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl in sunny Los Angeles.

Last but not least we talk a little bit about the draft and whether or not AJ McCarron is making the right choice skipping the Senior Bowl.
